A stretch of a timeline, as the second producer of the visibility masks.
HALF-OPEN: an element is inside when its instant is at or after from and strictly before to. A range filter is inclusive at both ends because a slider's maximum is a value a person can pick; a window is half-open because consecutive windows have to tile a timeline without counting an event in two of them, and a temporal series built on overlapping windows reports changes that never happened.
