The consumer call the simple tier adds to the element and to session.styles: the palette a colour binding uses when it names none, one per kind, resolved when a layer is written.

Choose the palette each kind of colour binding uses when it names none. Call it before adding layers; { reapply: true } repaints layers already written with the previous default.
